Qualifications and Experience.

John  has owned and worked with dogs from a very young age and has a great deal of knowledge and experience, his career in dogs started in 1987 when he became a Parks Constable Dog Handler and received extensive training in the use of operational police dogs and invaluable practical experience whilst policing the parks of south London. In 1987 John was privileged to be invited to take part in the Inter Services Police Dog Trails at Gartree Prison where he competed against the Prison Service, Police, Military and the U.S. Air Force he gained seventh place with his dog Luke a dog that he rescued only six months prior. The following year (1988) he competed again with Luke and gained third place team.In 1990 John left the Parks Constabulary and took a post as an Enforcement Officer and was later promoted to Senior Enforcement Officer, dealing with Illegal Street Trading. John carried out his duties for about ten years and during that time with his wife they ran a very successful Dog Training School, The Dulwich and District Dog Training School, they also held many displays all year round for different charities and became involved in PAT Dogs and carried out Hospital visits, John and his wife Michelle have also given talks to various bodies on responsible dog ownership and security dog handling and training.In 1991 John completed the British Institute course at the Royal Veterinary Collage, Potters Bar and gained a level two pass, he did not return to complete higher levels because the route that he intended to go down was that of Security/Protection dog training. John also held classes at the Royal Engineers Barracks in Chatham for about three years; this involved training the dogs of Military personnel living on camp and individual M.O.D. General Purpose Dogs.
Michelle and John have fully trained and part trained dogs for drug detection work and supplied the Prison Service and the private sector with dogs for passive and pro active drug detection work. During John’s time as an enforcement Officer he continued training dogs for pet owners and protection work and also ran a small dog handling business (Trinity K9 Services Ltd) supplying handlers and dogs to various security companies.In 2000 John left his job as an Enforcement Officer and took a job as a Contracts Manager and Senior Street Trading Officer and carried out these duties whilst continuing to run a busy dog training school in Dartford Kent and his Security Dog Handling business.In 2002 John and Michelle moved their family to North East Derbyshire and set up a new company, Protec UK 9 supplying dogs and handlers to security companies and training and supplying protection and patrol dogs for the private sector. John and Michelle continued their pet training interests and their work re-training and re homing problem dogs.John has worked with dogs in night clubs, events, council estates, building sites, stately homes and public and private schools and many other varied assignments and venues.In 2005 John decided to compete in service trails for the first time in seventeen years. He gained 4th place in the A1K9 event in Wales, 2nd place in the Yorkshire Cup and was the first  Associate member of the British Police and Service Canine Association to win the Victor Ludorum (champion of champions) Trophy at the 2007 Service dog of the year and the first to win the competition with a Malinios. John also won the Service dog Associate members cup, came second in the control round at A1K9 and joint second in the criminal work and won the agility round at the Yorkshire cup and came second place in the criminal work.John is an elected member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and holds an instructors qualification with them he also holds a Tutor handler certificate. John holds a city and guilds 7302 teaching certificate and a B.E.T.E.C in Supervisory Management, a Certificate in Management and an N.V.Q. Management.John is also a member of the National Association of Security Dog Users and the Dog Training Industry Association the British Police and Services Canine Association also the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce and of course John holds a Security Industry Authority licence. John is presently working towards completing the Kennel club Instructors accreditation.
